    Vanilc

The name Vanilc is an acronym for „Volumetric, Artificial, and Natural Image Lossless Coder“. As the name suggests, the program is able to compress various types of images losslessly, i. e., without any distortion of the image quality, ranging from very fast to very efficient compression (in terms of bits per pixel). The main purpose of this application is to serve as a prove-of-concept for the methods described in [1] regarding the distribution estimation step in least-squares prediction. However, as some effort was invested in order to build a fast and clean object-oriented open source C++ implementation, it may certainly also serve as a research framework for pixel-wise image and volume prediction for lossless image coding.
